Iris Time Is Here Cgain

Through this little booklet, we wish to say “Howdy” to our old friends and customers as well as to those of you who are receiving our iris listings for the first time. We wish to say “Thanks” to those of you who have ordered from us in past years and hope to serve you again in the future.

We have tried to keep the best of the older iris and to add the best of the newer varieties. Iris have been called the flower for the millions or the millionaire. In looking over the list, you will find flowers for the most discriminating at a price to fit anyone’s pocket-book. For instance, Ola Kala in the deep yellow class, now’ sells for just one dollar and it won the coveted Dykes Medal in 1948. The 1950 D. M. win- ner, Blue Rhythm sells for three dollars and is a wonderful iris in the blue class. If you like very dark iris, we recom- mend Black Forest. For something different and exotic, try Lady Mohr. Garden Glory must be seen to be appreciated. There are so many good ones, but we would like to mention the new pink lines and the new prices on some of the better ones. Hit Parade and Courtier are very good and the hy- bridizers are working on much deeper colors in these pinks.

We are doing a little hybridizing ourselves, and while we have not yet produced anything that we feel is good enough to introduce, we have several that are very nice and will have new seedlings blooming again this year with per- haps something outstanding. Anyone can develop an in- teresting hobby in hybridizing iris and raising your own seedlings as the technic is quite simple. Most of the seed- ling's will bloom in two years.

A.I.S.—For the real iris fan, we heartily recommend that you join the American Iris Society. Annual dues are $3.50 and a wealth of information is received in the four quarterly bulletins that each member receives during the year. These are not little skimpy booklets, but real honest- to-goodness 6 by 9 inch bulletins with 80 or 90 pages packed with iris information. Send your dues to

AMERICAN IRIS SOCIETY

444 Chestnut Street, Nashville 10, Tenn. or on orders of $10.00 or more for iris from our listing, if you will include $3.50 for your A.I.S. dues, we will send you

3

$3.50 worth of iris of our own choosing with no iris in the lot worth less than $1.00 each, with some worth more than $1.00.

TIME OF SHIPPING—wWe do not ship iris during the spring months but we start shipping about the middle of July. If you wish your iris shipped at a certain time after mid-July, state shipping date in your order and we will try to ship as close as possible to that date. Sometimes, weather and other unforseen circumstances make it impossible to ship on the exact date, but we do the best we can.

STATE INSPECTED—Our iris are state inspected and only quality stock is offered.

TRANSPORTATION We prepay postage on all or- ders over $2.00. Orders under $2.00, please include 25c to cover packing and handling.

GUARANTEE—We guarantee our plants to be true to name and to please you when received. If not completely satisfied, notify us promptly. Any plants that die the first season, we will replace at one-half price if we are notified before October Ist the same year as received.

TERMS are cash with order and we include a generous amount of extras, the larger the order, the more extras. If you find several on the list that you would like to try, list these at the end of your order, and in many cases, we will include some of these as extras.

RESIDENTS OF KANSAS—Don’t forget to include 2°% sales tax.

SUBSTITUTIONS We do not substitute unless re- quested to do so. If out of any item, we refund the amount of that item.
